Though Apple officially lists the maximum RAM as 8 GB, it's possible to install 16 GB of RAM using two 8 GB DIMMs. A single 3.5mm jack could be used for analog or optical audio out, or analog audio in. Actual usage varied with graphics load, resulting in slightly less RAM available for system use. Though reported as a 384 MB graphics system, this was actually a minimum. The MacBook Pro's second graphics chipset used a portion of main memory as VRAM. I now own this MacBook Pro 15, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd gen.), and a 2011 iMac 27 - My wife has an iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and MacBook Air 13 (which I gave her with this recent MacBook 15 purchase - only 6 months of use) - My daughter has the iPhone 5.
